24mm ultra wide-angle 5.0x zoom lens
An ultra-wide 24mm lens is perfect for capturing landscapes or group shots, while a 5.0x optical zoom gets you closer to your subject. Canon’s optical Image Stabilizer works to prevent image blur due to camera shake.
8.8 cm (3.5”) PureColor II Touch LCD
A wide LCD display offers great viewing and framing of HD movies and stills. A wide viewing angle with excellent colour and contrast rendition provides a clear display, even in bright sunlight.
Touch screen control
Touch AF allows you to track focus by touching the screen, while large on-screen icons and Hints & Tips guide you through key settings. To flick through shots, drag your finger across the screen or press for a magnified or index view. Touch Actions lets you use on-screen gestures to perform various tasks. Tap control switches between images when you tap the camera body.
Effortless shooting
Taking great photos is easy - Smart Auto mode uses Scene Detection Technology to determine the shooting scene from subject brightness, contrast, distance and hue. The camera selects the appropriate scene from a possible 22, and applies optimal settings. Smart Flash Exposure intelligently adjusts flash for best results.
Face Detection Technology
Face Detection technology detects up to 35 faces and adjusts focus, exposure, flash and white balance – for optimal results with natural-looking skin tones. Smart Shutter mode lets you trigger the shot by winking, smiling, or after an extra face enters the frame.
High Definition movies
Create stunning HD 720p movies, then use the integrated HDMI port to connect to a compatible HDTV.
DIGIC 4
The DIGIC 4 processor delivers richly detailed, clean images together with responsive camera operation with Servo AF/AE – which tracks moving subjects to ensure they are in focus and correctly exposed when the shutter is fully pressed.
Creative shooting
Shooting modes include Low Light, which captures the natural ambience of a scene without flash; Miniature Effect, which creates a dramatic model-like landscape; and Fish-eye Effect, which recreates the distortion of a fish-eye lens and adds a fresh perspective.
